The Cave

The cave is long and narrow,

The light thin but bright,

My legs grow tired with sorrow,

My arms shake with fright.

It’s easier to close my eyes,

Embrace the dark as friend,

But deep down inside rise I,

To take a step forward again.

A little closer and I might find,

Solace in light’s warm glow,

A future that’ll be more kind,

And a life beyond this woe.

Give me strength to be tougher,

Give me grace for energy,

For little now will I suffer,

And later then will be in glory.
